Royal Ontario Museum, Canada’s largest museum, seeks dynamic and creative Curator of Islamic Art & Culture to build robust schedule of exhibitions, programs and research; develop the collection. Curator will lead interpretation and presentation of the collection geared to both general and academic audiences; enjoy working with donors, collectors, scholars, external communities, and global partners; interactions with public and families. Curate innovative, interdisciplinary exhibitions; build and refine the collection in new directions, including modern and contemporary; build global networks; engage in original research; publish. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage permanent collection and installation rotations; work collaboratively with peers on special exhibitions and programs; develop strategies for broader outreach and increased visibility for the collection, especially to local and diasporic communities; actively produce research and publications; work with donors, collectors and patrons to cultivate support for acquisitions, exhibitions and programs. REQUIREMENTS: PhD or equivalent, preferably in Islamic art or culture field; publications track-record; one language from an Islamic region; fundraising experience a plus.
