The Old Globe in San Diego seeks an experienced, highly organized, and strategic individual for the role of Director of Finance (chief financial officer). With an annual operating budget of $24 million, the Globe annually produces 15 productions on its three stages, plus a “Globe for All” touring program.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Finance provides high-level leadership for the financial affairs of the Globe and oversees accounting, finance, and internal financial controls and works closely with the Managing Director in developing near-term and long-term financial plans and budgets. Provides ongoing fiscal and financial analysis in a fluid and changing environment; prepares long-term forecasts and financial models; monitors and supports fiscal performance; manages banking and external financial relationships; and will be the principal staff liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board. Works collaboratively with the other departments in the theatre. Manages operational and grant project budget planning, reporting, and forecasting. Manages departmental team of three employees.
Successful candidate will be a forward-thinking leader with ability to ensure and maintain integrity in all aspects of the theatre’s financial operations. Extensive knowledge and experience with computerized accounting applications, and database and spreadsheet software required; Tessitura, ADP and Financial Edge a plus. Excellent judgment and outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills required. Must be very well-organized, able to plan and manage strategically in a dynamic, fast-paced theatre environment. BA in accounting or related field required; M.B.A. or equivalent preferred. C.P.A. certification a plus. 7-10 year’s experience in progressively senior positions required, arts or nonprofit preferred. Must be able to pass a background check.
