The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is approaching a pivotal moment in the museum’s history with its 50th anniversary. OMCA has engaged Schaffer&Combs to identify a new Director of Marketing and Audience Engagement to build upon the museum’s significant accomplishments and usher the institution into its next stage of growth.
OMCA’s mission is to inspire all Californians to create a more vibrant future for themselves and their communities. Its collections—comprising more than 1.9 million objects including seminal art works, historical artifacts, ethnographic objects, natural specimens, and photographs—and its programs explore and reveal the factors that shape California character and identity.
OMCA is seeking a visionary leader to join their executive team to implement an institution-wide marketing and audience engagement strategy that resonates with Oakland’s vibrant community and attracts new visitors to one of the Bay Area’s cultural cornerstones. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future trajectory of OMCA, help the museum ensure financial sustainability, and have a direct line to maximizing the institution’s social impact.
