The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s (JSMA) Education Department is integral to the museum’s mission. The purpose of this position is to support education programs through the delivery of program curricula and coordination of K-12, studio programs, and special projects and develop and implement studio and K-12 programs and collaborative community partnerships independently. The position coordinates and delivers intensive and sustained professional development to teachers and administrators in evidence-based strategies (Visual Thinking Strategies) for teaching the visual arts, coordinates all studio classes and camps for the JSMA, and assists with artist in residencies and museum education program development for K-12 audiences and community outreach. This position aligns education programming and post-tour art activities with Common Core Standards, teaches and coordinates classes and supervises, trains, provides lead work, and hires UO students and community members who teach in both the museum and off-site.
