The Museum Store Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patrons, ensuring a welcoming experience. The position oversees retail sales, manages purchasing and inventory control, and supervises Museum Store volunteers.
Essential Job Functions
• Serve as ambassador to the Nordic Museum; welcome visitors, provide general assistance and merchandise information. • Represent the Nordic Museum to the public and all stakeholders in a positive and professional manner. • Perform Museum Store counter duties from opening to closing: • Greet visitors and provide them with product information. • Handle POS transactions. • Enter visitor/customer data into CRM database. • Manage any add-on transactions, including tickets, donations, memberships, etc. • Open and close POS, and reconcile daily tills; ensure accurate deposits to Finance Department. • Support admissions at transaction counter as required. • Answer phone, direct phone inquiries to the appropriate department. • Maintain store appearance for cleanliness, organization, and display. • Ensure tidy front desk with up-to-date materials and handouts. • Support and supervise Museum Store volunteers assisting on the floor. • Liaise with Volunteer Coordinator and Visitor Services Coordinator to ensure qualified and appropriate volunteer staffing. • Communicate with the Operations Manager regarding customer incidents at the museum, or visitor feedback. • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, order inventory for the Museum Store. • Receive, price, and shelve merchandise. • Record backorder information into the inventory management software. • Update inventory status based on requisition sheets and spot inventory counts. • Work with Operations Manager to devise display and merchandising strategies. • Participate in the annual inventory process. • Follow all security and safety protocols. • Maintain working knowledge of Museum information, programs, events and exhibitions. • Assist with production of training materials and provide product

BA/Associate's degree (preferred) plus 2 years relevant retail experience.
