The Education Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum seeks an Education Specialist for Gallery Education to strategically develop and maintain best practices for museum gallery teaching and innovative audience experiences. As a member of the Education and Public Programs Department, the Education Specialist for Gallery Education will have broad knowledge of museum education best practices, teaching and pedagogy, and commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion principles for audience engagement. Under minimal direction, the Education Specialist for Gallery Education supervises associated program staff and reports to the Head of Education. This individual is also responsible for supporting the training, evaluation, and continued education of volunteer docents who provide school, site, and general public tours. A successful candidate will work to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, museum engagement and the visual arts.
- Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in museum education, art education, art history, or closely related field strongly preferred
- 5-8 years of project/process management and subject area experience
- Foreign language skills
