The San Bernardino County Museum is recruiting for a Curator of Education, who has primary responsibility for educational programming, including school tours and out-of-school camps and activities. The Curator of Education also assists with public program educational content, and supplemental exhibit materials and activities. This position may work with the exhibits team on researching curriculum-based topics to supplement the ongoing exhibit schedule. The Curator of Education works in partnership with the Curator of Integrated Sciences to oversee staff and volunteers in all program components of the live animal Exploration Station, including the daily care schedule of the animals. Oversees the volunteer program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and assignments, as well as providing content and assistance for grant proposals and external marketing campaigns.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Incumbent must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required, as incumbents will work at the various Museum sites throughout the County. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
Availability: Incumbents will be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Museum Studies, or comparable field.
Experience: Two (2) years (full-time equivalent) experience managing educational programs and/or teaching in a museum, art center, community center, or school. Experience must include the design and development of informal learning experiences for children and/or adults, which includes hands-on learning components. Experience must be clearly described in your work history.
