Thanksgiving Point Institute, Inc. (TPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm, garden, and museum complex that draws upon the natural world to cultivate transformative family learning. Founded in 1995 by Alan and Karen Ashton, its five main venues, spread over two campuses, include Ashton Gardens, Butterfly Biosphere, Farm Country, Museum of Ancient Life, and Museum of Natural Curiosity. It also operates multiple dining options, event spaces, and gift shops. Each year, more than 2 million guests visit Thanksgiving Point. Thanksgiving Point is located in Lehi, Utah.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO is responsible for both strategic and tactical management of daily operations and employees. This individual is responsible for performance relative to annual operating plans and budgets. As leader of the senior management team the CEO defines the strategic decisions affecting business development, revenue achievement, cost controls, and the structure of the organization. Additional responsibilities include personal reinforcement of Thanksgiving Point’s hands-on discovery brand, leadership in fundraising, vision, working with real estate development partners, cultivating innovative solutions, and growing market share in existing markets while strategically entering new markets to create long term sustainability for Thanksgiving Point Institute. This leader is the public face of Thanksgiving Point and represents TPI to external stakeholders, constituents, and community partners.
