The Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center seeks to fill the position of Archivist. This position will report to the Curator, work closely with the Director, and is a member of the Museum’s senior staff.
The Archivist will be responsible for ensuring the preservation, growth and maintenance of the Museum’s archival collections. The archivist leads Archives staff and volunteers in cooperation with the larger team including Collections and Exhibits staff, all under the supervision of the curator.
Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, managing and leading the day-to-day functions of all Museum archival collections which include audio-visual materials, photographs, books, magazines, clippings, licensee materials, personal papers and business documents, prepare, implement and monitor the annual budget, direct supervision of staff to include but not limited to hiring, training, planning, assigning work and performance reviews and provide reference research services.
Skills and Abilities
Broad working knowledge of museum and archival standards and practices, knowledge of file and data management techniques used in museum registration and record keeping, self-starter with flexibility and a willingness to get the job done, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse environment, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, working knowledge of PastPerfect museum software preferred, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software also preferred
Minimum qualifications are a Master’s degree/coursework in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or similar with an emphasis in Archival Studies and minimum 2 years’ direct work experience in related archival discipline including some management experience.
Benefits and Compensation
This is a regular full-time position with hours of work Monday through Friday for a total of 40 hours per week. This is an exempt position with an annual salary between $55,000 - $70,000 based on experience. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Physical demands include the ability to lift 40 pounds. The Museum provides health and retirement plan benefits.
