Eileen Tinhorn Quintana is Diné (Navajo) and was born in Bluff, Utah. Raised in a traditional Hogan on the Navajo Nation Reservation, she attended boarding school in her early years and, at age eight, was taken to the LDS Placement Program, and lived with three families.
As the Coordinator for the Nebo Title VI Education Program for the last 27 years, she has led and transformed her community academically and culturally. Throughout her career in K-12 and higher education collaborations, Eileen has remained focused on amplifying Indigenous voices in all her projects. In 2024, she was recognized by the University of Utah American Indian Resource Center as a “Native Excellence Awardee” for Pre K-12th grade students. Under her leadership, Nebo Indian Education received a national award, "2010 Exemplary Indian Education," from the Catching the Dream organization, and a state award for “Excellent work -Indian Education Summer School” from the Utah Division of Indian Affairs. She was recognized by the Utah State Office of Education with a Life Skills Award in 2008. For over 20 years, she has partnered with the Adopt-A-Native Elder Program (ANE) and is a member of its Board of Directors.
