Indigenizing the Museums - Star Crop Eared Wolf

This years Western Museums Association Conference was in Tucson and was my first time attending. I was extremely excited to attend and gain more knowledge on museum practices, initiatives, exhibits and of course a chance to network with other museum professionals.

The sessions I was interested in attending were centered on indigenous lead initiatives and development in the Museums. I believe there is a strong need for more indigenous voice in regards to educational institutions such as universities and museums. The indigenous sessions I attending were insightful, inspirational and thought provoking as they offered unique experiences and perspectives that indigenous peoples encounter while working in museum based careers.

The knowledge I acquired from the sessions and conference will been applied to my own practice and goals as an indigenous curator. I look forward to attending future WMA conferences and continue to develop my knowledge and skills.
