Conceptualized in 1982 and fully realized in 1990, the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose (CDM) is now nestled in the Downtown district in a 52,000 square foot purple building designed by Mexico City-based architect Ricardo Legorreta. Since it's opening, CDM has welcomed over 7 million visitors.
The Hawaiʻi Museums Association (HMA) held this year’s annual meeting and conference on April 24, 2015 in Honolulu, HI. Once again the Japanese Cultural Center’s Grand Ballroom provided the perfect environment for information exchange, conversation, and networking.
What does it mean for museums and their staff to listen; to learn; and to lead? These three elements are inextricably related for museums, museum professionals, and the communities we serve. The act of listening affects a person’s and an institution’s ability to learn; learning in turn makes us stronger leaders in our institutions and in the museum field.
