Museums are places where we can all come together to engage in discourse, raise awareness, communicate who we are, and belong as a community. Being so, it is essential that museums celebrate, recognize, support, and welcome people of every sexual orientation and gender identity, not only during June, but all year round. Inclusion muse be embedded in every aspect of museum work – from staffing and signage to exhibitions and educational programs.
In honor of Pride Month, WMA is highlighting and providing easier access to the amazing LGBTQ+ resources that are out there to help museum professionals advocate for and advance inclusion with specific respect to LGBTQ+ communities, within their own institutions.
