The Philadelphia Museum of Art seeks a dynamic and creative curator to serve as The John Alchin and Hal Marryatt Curator of Contemporary Art, an endowed position. The Curator will lead exhibitions, commissions, acquisitions, and interpretation for the Museum’s contemporary art program while serving as an important public voice for the institution.
Founded in 1876, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the largest and most distinguished encyclopedic museums in the United States, with more than 240,000 works spanning over 2,000 years. The Museum’s contemporary holdings—defined as post-1960 art—include major works by artists such as Agnes Martin, Cy Twombly, Jasper Johns, Eva Hesse, Barkley Hendricks, and Robert Rauschenberg, alongside the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Marcel Duchamp.
