The Education Programs Specialist works with the Education Programs Manager to accomplish goals and objectives set forth in the annual strategic plan. The Education Programs Specialist will work closely with volunteers, interns, the Education Programs Manager and other staff to coordinate and implement Basque Museum & Cultural Center educational programs & projects.
General Overview of Typical Responsibilities:
• Support & enhance educational programming & projects set by the Basque Museum & Cultural Center’s Strategic Plan and Budget.
• Work with Education Programs Manager towards completion of actions according to Strategic Plan such as marketing, logistics, and post-event evaluations.
• Work with Education Programs Manager in recruitment, training and professional development of volunteers and interns to assist with student and adult presentations and tours.
• Work with Education Programs Manager in collaborating with other like organizations (including but not limited to Boise State, University of Nevada, N.A.B.O. and its organizations, The Auton-omous Basque Community, local and regional organizations, and more) to increase educational outreach opportunities.
• Work with Education Programs Manager and community groups, organizations, school systems and others to increase awareness of the institution as an educational resource. Develops com-munity collaborations and partnerships to extend organization programs and audience.
• Organize and provide educational presentations on and off-site (tours, workshops, lectures, and classes). Provide unique learning opportunities that attract all ages.
• Compiles various monthly and annual reports and information detailing department activities for Education Programs Manager
• Working with Education Programs Manager to create and collect content for and production of the newsletter
• Working with the Education Programs Manager to organize and coordinate docent program – recruit & train volunteers to assist with student and adult presentations and tours.
• Working with Education Programs Manager to update & create website resources and infor-mation as well as social media posts.
• Support & assist with educational programs and activities.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications
• Requires a degree in education, communication, public history, or related field, and at least one year experience in a similar position.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to multi-task, prioritize and self-manage.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Canva or other design applications, Wordpress or similar website appli-cations are strongly encouraged.
• Warm, engaging interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with and teach a variety of ages – from pre-k through adults.
• Strong verbal skills with bilingual ability in Basque or Spanish preferred.
Education Program Specialist must be willing to have a flexible schedule, work some weekends and eve-nings as needed. This position is full-time, and reports to the Education Programs Manager.
