Newfields, an innovative cultural institution in Indianapolis, seeks a Curator of Asian Art to lead the care, interpretation, and strategic development of its outstanding 5,000-object Asian collection. This is a unique opportunity to shape exhibitions and reinstallations, and engage diverse audiences with inclusive and impactful storytelling. The collection features Edo-period screens, Ming and Qing ceramics, a Goryeo celadon bowl, and contemporary works by artists like Kishi Eiko. The successful candidate will join a collaborative curatorial team and play a key role in institutional initiatives related to community engagement and interpretive excellence. A PhD in Art History or Asian Studies, curatorial experience, and proficiency in at least one relevant Asian language are required. Expertise in Japanese or Chinese art is strongly preferred.
