The Denver Art Museum (DAM), with 500,000+ visitors annually, seeks a curatorial leader to serve as Avenir Foundation Curator and inaugural Director of the Institute of Textile Art and Fashion. The Director-Curator will be expected to bring to fruition dynamic exhibitions and programs that engage broad audiences; build/support scholarship and research in textile art and fashion to include symposia and publications; develop the textile art and fashion collections through strategic acquisitions; cultivate donors, collectors, artists and others; work collaboratively with museum teams and external partners on special exhibitions and programs; engage active networks nationally/internationally. A new endowment for the position offers significant opportunity to grow the collection. This position supervises an assistant and a fellow and reports to the Chief Curator. QUALITIES: The incoming curator will be a leader and will enjoy public-facing work. Must have solid oral/written communication skills. Collaborative, welcome input from others. Enjoys fundraising. 5+ years’ curatorial or equivalent experience. MA required. Knowledge of textile art/fashion. Record of exhibitions, collaborative work.
