The Balboa Park Cultural Partnership is seeking a full-time Ticketing Manager. The successful candidate will have two or more years of experience with a ticketing system (preferably Tessitura) and customer service. This person will be responsible for managing the selling, processing, and reporting of orders for Balboa Park Explorer and being an ambassador to the Park. Our Ticketing Manager will make informed decisions, understand finances, and attention to detail when entering, tracking, and reporting data.



The Ticketing Manager will report to the Director, Operations. Duties include:

Ticketing Services

  • Managing online and phone orders for the Balboa Park Explorer Annual, One-Day, and Multi-Day passes
  • Managing group sales and fulfillment including follow-up, processing requests, tracking, packaging, and distributing orders, and addressing regularly scheduled groups
  • Printing and processing monthly renewal leads and mailings
  • Managing inventory including brochures, Explorer program supplies, and Explorer office supplies
  • Scheduling and conducting renewal courtesy calls
  • Communicating with participating ticketing venues on ongoing projects and changes to the Explorer program including weekly check-ins and constant relationship building
  • Working with Director, Operations to schedule, assign tasks, and oversee Ticketing Representatives

Reporting and Finance

  • Responsible for membership retention, renewal analysis, and achieving renewal goals
  • Reporting on marketing efforts, sales, and attendance using Tessitura and T-Stats
  • Maintaining monthly income tracking, budget reviews, and scan and sales reports
  • Working with Director, Operations to calculate income, commission, and disbursement for participating venues
  • Invoicing program partners for ticket sales and services
  • Working with Manager, Community Access Pass to report on distribution and usage
  • Creating monthly Explorer reports for review by Directors

Technology Maintenance

  • Managing yearly Tessitura Season planning and build
  • Assisting with strategy and planning of Explorer technology updates and changes
  • Creating lists and extractions in Tessitura
  • Updating and pulling lists for Mail2
  • Facilitating a third party to maintain and manage printers, kiosks, scanners, and website
  • Updating Explorer website, as needed



A qualified Ticketing Manager will enter the position with two or more years of customer service or box office environment and ticketing system (preferably Tessitura) experience. They will also have a demonstrated ability in:

  • Preparing, analyzing, and reporting data accurately and succinctly for financial review and growth tracking
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking skills; attention to detail especially when mediating customer service situations
  • Excellent time management, prioritizing, planning and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with high-level interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite for PC, familiarity with database operation, and aptitude for utilizing web technologies
  • Experience collaborating, building partnerships, and fostering community
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team
  • Adaptable
  • As an ambassador for the “One Park - One Team” philosophy, a positive attitude is a must

Additional experience in the following a plus:

  • Statistical analysis, marketing, and/or development
  • TNEW, T-Stats, and Mail2
  • Balboa Park organizations
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)



Position type: Full-time, 40 hours a week, non-exempt. A typical shift is 8 hours, weekdays between 8:00am to 5:30pm, and weekends and evenings as needed. Hourly rate is $17/hr.
