Graduate Intern – Collections Information

Stipend: $30,750 for the 9-month period (37.50 hours per week)

Summary:
The Norton Simon Museum offers graduate students the opportunity to work with registrars, curators,
and collections and imaging staff in making the Museum collection, archival material, and digital assets
more accessible and searchable. This nine-month paid internship is centered on the Museum’s
outstanding art collection and affiliated collections management system (CMS), data migration, and
implementation of our first digital asset management system (DAMS).
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to CMS and DAMS improvement initiatives and strategic projects
- Assisting with the building of metadata schemas and mapping for databases
- Collections reporting and data entry
- Conducting research on the collections
- Responding to public inquiries
- Contributing to collections management and conservation projects
Proficiency in collections management databases is desirable; strong organizational skills with great
attention to detail are required.
Physical Requirements:
This positon may require moderate lifing, stretching, reaching, and bending. Ability to lift up to 15
pounds.
Schedule:
Position is scheduled to work 37.50 hours per week, between Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
