The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, the visual arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting, and interpreting works of art of outstanding quality and historical importance and is one of four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust. The Museum operates two sites, the Getty Villa in Malibu, which exhibits its collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, and the Getty Center in Brentwood, which displays its collections of European art: Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, drawings to 1900, and photography to the present day (including non-European works). The Museum mounts approximately 25 temporary exhibitions a year across its two sites; maintains an annual permanent gallery improvement program and offers wide-ranging and ambitious programming for its visitors.
This Assistant Digital Media Producer position in the J. Paul Getty Museum is part of a pilot program to support entry-level positions for individuals who are alumni of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship (MUI) program. The intended purpose of the Emerging Professionals program is to provide an intentional strategy to develop a foundation for career development and mentorship. Getty has made a commitment of two years for this position, which is intended for emerging professionals who are seeking to gain professional experience and deepen their knowledge of careers in museums, specifically as outlined in the position description below.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Education and Public Programs, the Assistant Digital Media Producer will support the museum's Education Department to create getty.edu as a destination for dynamic and relevant resources to inspire teachers from across the country to integrate the visual arts into their curriculum. They will be responsible for supporting the expansion of virtual programming and digital resources for K-12 school communities by developing new online content as part of the Getty's website for teachers and students in collaboration with education staff.
As part of the pilot program, the Education department will integrate the Assistant Digital Media Producer into all relevant project and department meetings. Additional supervision provided by department staff in school and teacher audiences, as well as mentoring by the Head of Education and external mentor. Additionally, they will have opportunities to collaborate and learn with leaders in the museum education field, as well as applying skills to independent digital project development and programming and training in all administrative support systems: budget tracking, purchase order development, contracts, expenditure reconciliation. And they will have access to related project (content and/or conferences) travel opportunities.

- Support the new Community College Student Guide program with content development and assessment tools
