Increase your capacity to create comprehensive and conscientious interpretations of slavery.  Learn tips for connecting to and extending
beyond your site’s complex history of slavery; training to help staff achieve a greater understanding of the difficult knowledge and navigate
surrounding complicated emotions; and tools to inventory current interpretations and how to evaluate new techniques.
The workshop will provide museum professionals with best practices for interpreting the difficult subject matter of slavery and the slave trade.

 Participants will:
·        be more adept at helping their institutions interpret slavery and handle issues of race;
·        be more proficient at interpreting any controversial history;
·        strengthen their peer networks;
·        and improve their skills of self-assessment, institutional assessment, creativity, problem solving, and civic literacy.
