Highlights for the Upcoming WMA Wanda Chin Professional Development Scholarship Silent and Live Auctions

By: Ted Greenberg

To everyone attending the upcoming Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, I would like to bring your attention to the Wanda Chin silent/live auction.  We have a tremendous amount of support from the museum community as well as many of our friends and vendors who support WMA. The live auction has some fantastic items to be bid upon such as a weekend stay in Northern California’s Sea Ranch, a weeks stay in New York City at the Phillips Club, (650sf One bedroom apartment at 66th and Broadway, across street from Juilliard and one block from Lincoln Center.), tour of San Simeon, some artworks, and 2 WMA registrations for next years meeting in Salt Lake City. Other items are still in process of being finalized, so you need to come the exhibit hall to see these fabulous donations.

As for our silent auction items, we have many fine catalogues from our institutions including major catalogues on Rodin, Jacob Lawrence, Gauguin, Edwin Weston; ethnographic pieces including Native American jewelry, jewelry crafted by some of our members; gift baskets containing an assortment of fun items; many opportunities for passes to many museums, zoos, aquariums, and Ashland Shakespeare Festival; publications from AAM, Gail Anderson, and Marjorie Schwarzer; vouchers from vendors for services and products; and some fun experiences such as train rides and just received from our next annual meeting site in Utah 2 Winter rocket skeleton rides (winter sport). More donations include wine, dinners and more items to numerous to mention.

The silent auction begins on Monday morning, and goes through the Exhibit Hall’s Closing Reception Tuesday afternoon. The live auction will be held during the Wednesday Evening Event at the Palm Springs Art Museum – with auctioneer Michael Hammond! So bring your checkbook, credit card and even cash to help support WMA and the Wanda Chin Professional Development Fund. You never know when you might want to apply to the fund so that you can attend future annual meetings.
