It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Western Museums Association (WMA) announces the Request for Proposals for the 2014 Annual Meeting to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 5-8, 2014. The Annual Meeting will illuminate Las Vegas museums and be guided by the theme: Expect the Unexpected.

The 2014 WMA Program Committee requests your Session Proposals for the 2014 Annual Meeting:

  • What are unexpected trends ahead for museums?
  • How are museums changing visitor expectations? Or, conversely, how are audiences altering museums?
  • What are the big issues in your area of expertise right now?

Proposals that challenge outdated traditions, introduce promising innovations, refine best practices, expand professional horizons, illustrate rewarding connections, and build on the best offerings of the 2013 Final Program will provide attendees with a rich, engaging diversity of sessions.

Session Proposal Form

WMA Program Committee members work together to carefully select the final program of sessions for the Annual Meeting. They meet multiple times to discuss and evaluate each submission, and even work with proposers to develop each session to its full potential.

When describing the process of working and speaking with WMA 2013 proposers, Program Committee member Margaret Kadoyama explained, It was so interesting to talk at a deeper level about all kinds of topics, from an innovative staff development program to collaborative exhibitions to developing a personal plan for change. These conversations were crucial in helping us capture the essence of the proposals. Now I’m invested in *their* success, and I look forward to meeting the proposers and panelists at the conference.” WMA’s goal is to offer attendees meaningful and valuable information and strategies to be as successful as possible in their roles as museum professionals.

The submission deadline is November 22, 2013. We look forward to receiving your proposals and seeing you at the 2014 Annual Meeting, October 5-8, 2014, Las Vegas, Nevada!
